Hyundai has expanded the Staria lineup in Indonesia with fully electric and hybrid variants, both debuting at this year's Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The Staria Electric VIP grade features a 218 PS motor paired with an 84 kWh battery delivering up to 544 km NEDC range (approximately 430 km WLTP). Its 800-volt architecture supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in just 20 minutes, while V2L capability outputs 3.5 kW externally. The hybrid variant combines a 1.6L turbocharged engine (180 PS) with an electric motor (73.4 PS) for a combined 245 PS and 367 Nm, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Both VIP variants offer identical equipment including second-row 14-way power-adjustable VIP seats with massage function, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and Hyundai's SmartSense driver assistance suite.

Toyota has introduced a two-seat cargo version of the Hilux, removing the rear bench to create a flat load area measuring 1,290mm wide and 640mm deep, suitable for tools and equipment. Available for both Diesel 48V and BEV variants, the conversion does not compromise quality, performance, or safety. The BEV features permanent all-wheel drive with 700mm wading depth. Prices start from £36,815 for the Diesel 48V and £49,356 for the BEV (including £5,000 OZEV grant). Business users benefit from flat-rate benefit-in-kind taxation and 100% plant and machinery allowance. Toyota offers up to 10 years or 100,000 miles warranty.

The Omoda 4 EV debuted at GIIAS 2026 following its ASEAN premiere in Jakarta. Positioned as a B-segment electric SUV measuring 4,420/1,870/1,570mm with a 2,700mm wheelbase, it features a single motor producing 160kW and 275Nm, delivering 0-100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. The 65.05kWh LFP battery from CATL offers up to 553 km NEDC range (470 km WLTP), with DC fast charging from 20-80% in 22 minutes at up to 119kW. Interior highlights include a 13.2-inch 2.5K portrait touchscreen with Snapdragon 8155, 8.88-inch instrument display, 50W wireless charging, and an 8-speaker audio system. Safety includes 18 ADAS functions. Indonesia will only receive the EV variant, while Malaysia is confirmed to get two variants when it launches next year.

The seventh-generation Subaru Outback debuted at GIIAS 2026 in Indonesia, priced from 1,025 million rupiah (approximately RM233,966). The new model abandons the traditional station wagon form for a more upright, rugged front fascia design. It is powered by a 2.5L naturally aspirated boxer four-cylinder engine producing 180 hp, paired with a CVT and full-time AWD. The larger body yields 980 liters of luggage space, while roof rails can bear 363 kg statically and 100 kg dynamically with a Subaru-first 100 kg lateral load capacity for hanging items. Inside, a horizontally oriented 12.1-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster replace the previous vertical setup, with physical climate controls retained. Safety includes the EyeSight suite with three stereo cameras, four radar units, and four sensors, plus nine airbags including a center airbag.

The Roewe Jiayue 07 will debut on August 13. Positioned as a mid-to-large SUV targeting the 150,000-200,000 yuan segment, it uses a range-extended powertrain. The exterior features a 2.24-meter connected light bar, roof-mounted LiDAR, and Momenta R5 advanced driver assistance. Dimensions measure 4900/1910/1745mm with a 2,908mm wheelbase, offering six color options. The powertrain pairs a 1.5L range extender (72kW) with a 162kW motor, matched with 32.6kWh or 44.2kWh batteries delivering 180-240km WLTP pure electric range (320km max CLTC). It also features the Doubao large model 2.0 series.

Dongfeng Carro is holding the Dongfeng Roadshow at Melawati Mall in Kuala Lumpur from August 5-9, showcasing the 007 electric fastback sedan and Vigo electric SUV. The Vigo compact EV SUV features a 51.87 kWh LFP battery delivering up to 380 km WLTP range, with a unique split tailgate supporting up to 150 kg for tailgating use, priced at RM108,888 with an RM8,888 rebate bringing it below the RM100,000 mark. The 007 targets the BYD Seal and Tesla Model 3, available in RWD Premium (272 PS, 530 km range, RM169,888) and AWD Prime (544 PS, 3.9s 0-100 km/h, RM195,888). Every Dongfeng sold in Malaysia comes with a six-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and eight-year unlimited-mileage powertrain and battery warranty, with launch customers receiving a complimentary ABB wallbox home charger.
