Toyota Motor to Rename PEVE as Toyota Battery Company After Full Acquisition

Toyota Motor Corporation announced plans to rename its electric vehicle (EV) battery subsidiary, Primearth EV Energy (PEVE), to Toyota Battery Company Ltd. after acquiring all outstanding shares from joint venture partner Panasonic Holdings. Toyota is set to purchase Panasonic's 19.5% stake in PEVE by the end of the month, making the battery manufacturer a wholly-owned subsidiary. PEVE will continue to be headquartered in Kosai City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and primarily supply batteries to the Toyota Group. The name change will take effect from October 1, 2024, reflecting PEVE's growing role within the group. In addition to batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), the company will also produce batteries for future full electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), aligning with Toyota's shift towards low and zero-emission vehicles.

Lexus has released official images of the RZ 600e F Sport Performance, its most powerful RZ yet. Aerodynamic add-ons—hood vents, front splitter, flared fenders, side skirts, rear diffuser and dual-plane spoiler—plus 21-inch matte-black wheels and carbon-fiber trim sharpen the look. Inside, blue accents and leather/Alcantara sport seats complement the yoke-style steering wheel with steer-by-wire. IM Motors Scales OTA in January, Debuts LS8 & L3 AD in 2026
IM Motors will begin a large-scale over-the-air update this January, rolling out in waves according to chip set and model. The brand also revealed a 2026 roadmap headlined by the new range-extended LS8 SUV, already homologated by MIIT. Measuring 5085 mm long with a 3060 mm wheelbase, the 5/6-seater pairs a 1.5-litre turbo generator with a 230 kW electric drive and 52.1-65.9 kWh LFP blade batteries for up to 335 km electric range. IM will simultaneously push steer-by-wire and L3-grade assisted-driving technologies into volume production.
