The refreshed Hongqi HQ9 PHEV appears on China’s 25th tax-exempt list with a 39.5kWh pack delivering 173km or 168km electric range. A 120kW 2.0T petrol engine forms the plug-in hybrid, while design keeps the vertical-bar grille and full-width taillights on its 5222×2005×1935mm luxury MPV body.

Nissan plans to export electric vehicles (EVs) from its Chinese factories to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions starting in 2026. The N7 mid-size sedan, the first EV developed in China, will be among the first to be exported. Nissan has invested in China's IAT Automobile Technology to develop software for export markets. Additionally, Nissan has established a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group to handle vehicle exports. Nissan aims to leverage the cost-effectiveness of Chinese EVs to enhance its competitiveness in overseas markets.

Fresh MIIT filings show the facelifted Yangwang U7 EV gaining a 150.01 kWh Blade pack good for up to 1,006 km CLTC—286 km more than the current 135.5 kWh version—while the PHEV sticks with a 52.4 kWh battery for 200/220 km electric range. Quad-motor power remains 1,000 kW; prices stay RM 628k–708k, keeping it China’s priciest home-grown luxury EV sedan.

On Jan 5 Hyundai Motor Group announced its 2026 vision. Executive Chair Euisun Chung set five priorities—customer evolution, agile decisions, ecosystem strength, bold collaboration and new standards—calling for AI to be embedded in the company’s DNA. Leveraging vehicle, robot and plant data, the Group will accelerate SDV roll-outs, hydrogen value-chain leadership and humanoid robot Atlas deployment. Kia targets >6 % growth and PBV expansion, while Hyundai Mobis secures SDV mass production, reinforcing global mobility leadership through cross-domain synergy.

Hongqi R&D Center’s self-developed all-solid-state battery pack debuts in the TianGong 06 prototype, achieving breakthroughs in high-voltage module packaging and lightweight system integration and entering real-vehicle testing. GAC also targets 2027 mass production of high-capacity solid-state cells offering double energy density and 1,000 km range, accelerating China’s solid-state battery commercialization.

Tianyancha data shows the former Dongfeng Honda Engine Co. has been renamed GAC Honda Engine Co., with registered capital up to RMB 0.97 billion. After acquiring Dongfeng’s 50 % stake for ~RMB 1.17 billion, GAC Honda now holds 100 % equity, integrating engine operations, cutting costs and securing supply for its electrification shift.
