South Korean battery maker SK On has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari to develop high-performance electric vehicle (EV) battery cells. SK On has been supplying EV batteries to Ferrari since 2019 for the automaker's SF90 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) range and currently equips the 296GTB and 296GTS PHEVs launched in 2021 and 2022. The announcement follows Ferrari's plans to launch its first full electric model in Q4 2025. SK On CEO Lee Seok-hee stated that the collaboration aims to provide customers with new experiences and values by combining expertise and technologies from both companies. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna emphasized the joint effort to explore new frontiers and energize shared ideas.
