2026 Geely ICON Chocolate Launched: From 7.98 k with Flyme Auto & 1.5TD
On July 11, Geely launched the 2026 ICON Chocolate at a promo price of 7.98-8.58 k RMB. The 4 350 mm compact SUV adds four new colours and keeps the 133 kW 1.5TD+7DCT combo, delivering 6.3 L/100 km WLTC. Standard kit includes Flyme Auto, 14.6-inch screen, heated front seats and Bluetooth smart key.
Jetta VS8 Mid-Size SUV Debuts with 1.4T Engine and Level 2 ADAS
On July 10, Jetta officially unveiled the all-new VS8, a mid-size SUV featuring a bold “Warrior Armor” design language. Measuring 4,629×1,851×1,624 mm with a 2,731 mm wheelbase, the VS8 offers a tech-forward cabin with a 10.25-inch digital cluster and 14.6-inch floating infotainment screen. Power comes from a 1.4L turbocharged engine producing 110 kW, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Built on the MQB EVO platform, it features MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension, and includes Level 2 ADAS with over 20 active safety functions.

On July 15, JETOUR launched the Explorer 1.5TD Plus at RMB 132,900. The compact SUV retains the boxy design with a “JETOUR” badge and chrome trim, exuding a rugged look. The interior features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch infotainment screen (with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip), and a 10.33-inch co-pilot entertainment screen, along with a new electric trunk. Purchase benefits include RMB 2,000 off RMB 8,000, RMB 15,000 trade-in subsidy, lifetime warranty, 5-year interest-free loan, and RMB 2,000 for 5 years of connected car services.

Wuling Motors Indonesia Launches the Mitra EV, an Electric Commercial Vehicle for Urban Logistics
On July 11, 2025, Wuling Motors Indonesia launched the Mitra EV, an electric commercial vehicle for urban logistics, at its factory in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, to celebrate its eighth anniversary in Indonesia. The Mitra EV, a light commercial electric vehicle, will be available for sale by the end of the third quarter. It features a spacious cargo area of 6.5 cubic meters, supported by dual sliding doors and a 270-degree rear door for easy access. Safety features include airbags, ABS, and EBD systems. The Mitra EV is available in blind van and minibus variants, priced from IDR 299 million and IDR 317 million respectively. With a range of up to 400 kilometers and fast charging capability from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, Wuling also offers battery safety technology for commercial fleets. Logistics companies have shown interest in purchasing the Mitra EV.

Mazda Unveils All-New Third-Generation CX-5 with Major Infotainment Overhaul
Last week, Mazda unveiled the all-new third-generation CX-5, featuring significant changes to its exterior and interior. Most notably, Mazda has simplified traditional buttons and knobs, opting for a 15.6-inch touchscreen that integrates climate control and media systems. Tamara Mlynarczyk, Mazda North America's public affairs manager, said the change was based on customer research to enhance usability and driving safety. Previously, Mazda had been conservative with touchscreens, as seen in the 2019 Mazda 3. Whether this shift signals a broader move towards screen-centric designs remains to be seen.
