FAW-Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.AURA T6 Dragon Boat Special Edition at the GBA Auto Show, a pure-electric midsize SUV built on the CEA architecture with a 5-seat layout, roof-mounted LiDAR, and Corewise intelligent driving assistance. The special edition features Lingnan kapok-inspired red paint with golden auspicious cloud and dragon scale motifs. The company also introduced its Golden Hybrid technology, pairing an EA211 dedicated hybrid engine with a TQ251 transmission to achieve 3L/100km fuel consumption and over 1,400km combined range. The system includes Xingyun intelligent driving with end-to-end highway NOA and cross-floor memory parking. The Magotan PHEV and Tayron L PHEV are scheduled for launch at the end of June.

Lotus has unveiled the Emira 420 Sport, the brand's final pure internal combustion model powered by the Mercedes-AMG M139 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged engine, now producing 420 PS and 500 Nm through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the rear wheels. The model achieves a 25 kg weight reduction via optional lightweight components including carbon fibre parts, a titanium exhaust, and a lithium-ion 12V battery, while aerodynamic enhancements add 25 kg of downforce. Featuring a retuned chassis with a 5 mm lower centre of gravity, Multimatic two-way adjustable dampers, and the Lotus Track Performance lap timing system, the 420 Sport delivers heightened track-focused dynamics. First deliveries are scheduled for August 2026, marking the end of Lotus's AMG engine era as the brand transitions to Horse Powertrain W30 units and electrified powertrains.

The MG 4X, the first SUV in the MG4 family, has officially launched with four variants offering 510 km and 610 km CLTC ranges, priced from RMB 92,800 to RMB 109,800 after subsidies. It is the only model in its segment to feature standard rear-wheel-drive with a five-link independent suspension, complemented by DP-EPS steering and XDS cornering control for luxury-grade dynamics. The 510 km variant uses a QingTao semi-solid-state battery proven through nail penetration and extreme cold tests, while the 610 km variant packs a 64.2 kWh CATL battery—the only sub-RMB 100,000 pure-electric SUV exceeding 600 km range—supporting 16-minute 30%-80% fast charging.

Chery has confirmed its Japan market entry through the EMT joint venture, partnering with Jiangsu Yueda, Autobacs Seven, Gotion High-Tech, and Anest to launch the Emta brand. The debut model is a pure-electric K-Car measuring approximately 3,400mm in length, built on Chery's vehicle architecture with ADAS technology and Gotion-supplied batteries. Production will take place at Yueda's Yancheng plant, with sales handled by Autobacs Seven and aftersales by Anest. The model is scheduled for a 2027 launch, with four variants planned by 2029. Local Japanese production is being considered post-2030 if market traction is achieved.

NIO has officially launched the ES9, its flagship intelligent electric executive SUV, with deliveries commencing immediately. Offered in three variants priced from RMB 498,000 to RMB 628,000 (battery subscription from RMB 390,000), the ES9 measures 5,365 mm by 2,029 mm by 1,870 mm with a 3,250 mm wheelbase, making it China's largest pure-electric SUV. Built on a full-domain 900V architecture, it features a dual-motor AWD system producing 520 kW and 4.3-second 0-100 km/h acceleration, paired with a 102 kWh CATL battery delivering up to 620 km CLTC range. Intelligent driving is powered by the world's first 5 nm automotive-grade chip, the Shenji NX9031, with three LiDAR sensors enabling the industry-unique urban navigation-assisted battery swap function.

The Chery Omoda C7 has reappeared in a KL Fashion Week teaser, signaling an imminent Malaysian launch. Positioned between the O5 and C9, this C-Segment SUV features a 1.6L turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, with both FWD and AWD variants expected. The minimalist cabin includes a 15.6-inch sliding central touchscreen and Sony audio. While the C7 PHEV delivers 360PS combined output, the Malaysian market will likely debut with the petrol variant first.
