On April 2, 2024, Toyota Motor Corporation announced the full operation commencement of the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama, located in a mountainous region between Toyota and Okazaki cities, Japan. The facility, which began construction in April 2018, is designed to advance vehicle development in line with Toyota's mission to "build ever-better cars." The center leverages the natural terrain of Shimoyama for rigorous vehicle testing on varied elevations and curves. The facility includes a country road test course, a high-speed test course, specialized test courses, a new vehicle development building, and a visitor building, all aimed at fostering innovation and co-creation with business partners. Environmental conservation was prioritized, with approximately 60% of the site area preserved as green spaces. The Environmental Learning Center, completed in March 2023, facilitates community interaction for environmental conservation efforts. Toyota remains committed to working with local governments and community members for ongoing environmental initiatives.
