On the first day of the 2024 Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) in Jakarta, Chery presented a new feature of the OMODA E5, the Car Link O, which was first introduced in March and demonstrated publicly for the first time. Car Link O is a technology that allows consumers to easily access various information and control vehicle functions via their smartphone, enhancing driving comfort. The first 4,000 Chery OMODA E5 customers can have the Car Link O feature installed for free. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, and once connected, offers features such as remote door lock/unlock, window adjustment, sunroof control, trunk access, and AC seat and cabin adjustment, as well as vehicle location and battery status monitoring. Car Link O also analyzes vehicle conditions to help consumers understand their driving habits and perform maintenance. Chery's theme at PEVS 2024, "New Energy, New Eco, New Era," reflects its commitment to a sustainable future through the innovation of environmentally friendly and high-tech electric vehicles. The OMODA E5 now comes in a new Gray color variant and is priced at IDR 488,800,000 for the first 4,000 consumers, who also receive special benefits including a lifetime warranty for the battery and Power Motor Controller, one year of free insurance, and free updates to the Car Link O app. For all OMODA E5 consumers, Chery provides a free V2L Cable, 7Kw AC Charger, Portable Charger, free service and spare parts for 5 years or 75,000 km, and towing and vehicle pick-up and delivery services for one year. Horse Powertrain Unveils Future Hybrid Concept to Transform EVs into Hybrids
Horse Powertrain, a joint venture between Geely and Renault, unveiled the Future Hybrid Concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. This modular hybrid powertrain concept is designed to transform battery-electric vehicle (BEV) platforms into internal-combustion hybrid powertrains with minimal modifications. The concept integrates an internal combustion engine, electric motor, and transmission into a compact unit that can be directly installed in place of the front-mounted drive unit of a BEV, with only minor adjustments needed to work with the existing electrical architecture. Additionally, the system supports a variety of fuel types, including gasoline, E85 ethanol, pure methanol, and synthetic fuels. Horse Powertrain plans to bring the first vehicles equipped with this concept to market as early as 2028.
Honda Shifts Civic Hybrid Production from Japan to US Amid Tariffs

Proton Records Strong Sales Growth in March, with e.MAS 7 Leading EV Sales in Malaysia
Proton recorded a significant sales increase in March 2025, delivering 13,918 vehicles, a 23.9% increase from February and a 9.6% increase from the same month last year. The Proton e.MAS 7 delivered 797 units in March, becoming Malaysia's best-selling electric vehicle. Proton's estimated market share for March is 19.4%, based on a forecasted Total Industry Volume (TIV) of 71,596 units. For the first quarter of 2025, Proton's total sales reached 35,068 units, capturing a market share of 18.9% based on a TIV of 184,652 units. Proton's export volume surged by 211% in March to 417 units, 11.4% higher than the same period last year, with the Proton Saga leading overseas sales.
