The US remains the second largest market for EU vehicle exports, accounting for 22% of the EU's export market in 2024. German automakers are the largest suppliers to the US, with exports amounting to €32.71 billion, representing 64.27% of EU exports to the US. Although the US electric vehicle market is relatively small, it is growing rapidly, with BEV and PHEV sales reaching approximately 100GWh in 2024. European automakers have a significant manufacturing presence in the US, creating numerous jobs.

In March 2025, Geely Auto sold 232,177 vehicles, up 54% year-on-year and 13% month-on-month. New energy sales reached 119,696 units, accounting for 52% of total sales and up 167% year-on-year. The Geely brand sold 191,462 units, with the China Star series contributing 101,430 units, up 7% year-on-year. The Geely Galaxy brand sold 90,032 units, up 290% year-on-year. Lynk & Co sold 25,293 units, with new energy vehicles accounting for 56%. Zeekr delivered 15,422 units, up 19% year-on-year. Overseas exports reached 37,047 units, up 45% month-on-month.

On April 8, Changan Mazda released teaser images of its new SUV, the EZ-60, which is expected to launch this year and may be named CX-6e overseas. The vehicle continues Mazda's "Kodo" design language with a new purple paint option. It features aerodynamic vents on the D-pillar and electronic exterior mirrors. The rear sports a futuristic pulling-through taillight. Powertrain options include range-extender and pure electric variants. The range-extender features a 1.5L engine with a 160kW motor, offering 130km/200km of pure electric range and a maximum combined range of 1301km. The pure electric version has a single motor with a maximum power of 190kW, paired with 56.1kWh/68.8kWh battery packs, providing CLTC ranges of 480km/600km.

The new Volkswagen Magotan PHEV has been spied. The exterior and interior maintain the design of the gasoline version, with a business-oriented style. The vehicle measures 4990/1854/1487mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2871mm. The rear features transparent tail lights and a chrome strip, adding a touch of modernity. The interior includes a 15-inch central control screen, an 11.6-inch passenger screen, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, powered by the 8155 chip and supporting CarPlay/CarLife. Powerwise, it is expected to feature a 1.5T plug-in hybrid system with a pure electric range of over 100km, offering significant improvements in performance and energy efficiency.

Toyota plans to develop around 15 electric vehicle (EV) models by 2027 and aims to produce approximately 1 million units annually. Currently, Toyota has five in-house developed EV models, with production limited to Japan and China. This strategic move is aimed at expanding its global market share for electric vehicles and meeting growing global demand. The company also plans to expand production to the US, Thailand, and Argentina. Despite its accelerated electrification efforts, EVs still account for a small portion of Toyota's overall business, with 2024 global EV sales reaching around 140,000 units, less than 2% of total sales.

On April 7, the new plug-in hybrid Max and Ultra versions of the Luxeed R7, under Horizon Smart Travel, officially opened for booking. The new Max version is equipped with a 53.4kWh battery, with CLTC pure electric range increased from 251km to 360km, and a total range of 1673km. The Ultra version features Huawei DriveONE dual-motor all-wheel drive with a maximum power of 496 horsepower and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds. Both versions come standard with HUAWEI ADS advanced intelligent driving system. The exterior maintains the current design, with an active grille shutter (AGS) to reduce drag. The interior includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch central control screen, with the co-pilot seat supporting 18-way adjustment. Immediate booking offers a 2000 yuan discount against 5000 yuan.
